30 day return visa question
« on: December 11, 2017, 09:20:33 AM »
My wife's visa was accepted and in her pack it said she had to enter the UK within 30 days. We need to extend that duration due to problems that need to be sorted in the USA. What is the best number or email to contact them on about this?

Is there absolutely no way she can enter during the 30 day window, collect the BRP, and then return to the USA?  It's very difficult to change the entry dates...

She has 30 days to enter the UK from the start date printed on her visa - so her 30-day period is between the two dates on her visa vignette.

If she cannot travel within those 30 days, she must submit another online application, pay £169 for a new visa vignette and mail her passport to New York for processing, which may take a few weeks to get sorted and has been a bit of a nightmare for the few people who have had to do it.

If there is any way she can travel to the UK within the 30 days and pick up her BRP card, that would be the best option. She can then return to the US to finish sorting out things if she needs to.

Flight costs are sky high at the moment due to the holidays. This is another issue about just coming back and going again.

Indeed they are.  I paid $1,000 for a one way, and that was a steal.  I wasn't finding anything for under $1,300 that didn't involve 3 connections in countries I'm not interested in landing in lol.  Saw some in the $800 range but they involved the 3 connections, one of which had a 12 hour layover.  That = the need for a hotel room, taxi fare, and a huge hassle.  No thanks, just get me home to my wife!
Applied from Sin City, USA

Biometrics appointment completed Nov 6th

Just bear in mind that if you do change the dates on the visa, I would allow up to 2-3 months to get it sorted, as you may need to wait until after her designated 30 days have expired before you can apply for the replacement vignette.

The 30-day entry is unfortunately something that needs to be planned for when you apply for the visa. The 30 days will either start on or near the date you put as the Intended Travel Date on the Application or on or near the date the visa decision is made, if the date you put has passed.

Her flights were booked to come home. Unexpected problems came up and things had to get postponed. She made it sound easy to change the dates, maybe just misread the information.

I'm sorry you're going thru some stuff - cannot be fun to deal with.
