First, I'm so sad that you had a delicious-but-unpleasant first attempt at eggnog!  I recommend this recipe (even if it does sound scary with the uncooked eggs):  https://www.jamieoliver.com/news-and-features/features/best-eggnog-recipe/  Following that recipe, we haven't made scrambled eggs yet.  Ignore where it says it serves 8, though.  We get two servings out of half a batch, so that suggests we'd get 4 for a whole recipe.  They lie.   Oh.  Dark rum, not bourbon.  Definitely rum.

Second, our "eggnog jug" -- the one I was so worried about receiving in time to use at the weekend -- didn't get filled with eggnog after all.  We made another half-batch of eggnog, chilled it for a bit, and then drank it down. Instead, the jug was filled with homemade margarita for Mexican Platter night.  We had a good weekend.   ;)

Finally, cannibal chickens?!

Yay, no scrambled eggs. But oh, heavenly goodness, especially with the Jamaican rum I poured in.

Yay!

Gawd, I've been craving eggnog since I woke up this morning, but we have to hand-whisk the eggs (no room in our makeshift kitchen for a mixer, so it's put away up in the loft), and I just don't see me doing all that effort on my own.  It's not so bad when we can hand-off to each other when we get tired of whisking.  But all by myself?  Don't wanna be all by myself... anymore...  ♪♪♫♫♪♪♪♫♫

Yeah, that was my difference, I used the stand mixer instead of hand whisking.

So posh!  Someday I will have all the things.  I'll try not to be as annoying about having them as I am about not having them.  :P

In fairness, the only reason I have a stand mixer is because a Bentalls near us was closing down and they heavily discounted EVERYTHING. I bought it as I wasn't sure when I would ever be able to dish out the amount of cash required for a KitchenAid again would be and the price literally couldn't be beat. Pricing was so good that husband contemplated telling me to get a second one to resell online LOL

I'm sorry I missed out on that discount.  I don't have the place for one yet, but I wouldn't mind snagging a good deal like that even if I just have to store it in the loft for a few months (years?).

My work friend who I was at the shop with had said "Oh I REALLLYYY want one but I don't have kitchen space in our house currently..." I was like THE DEAL IS SO GOOD, JUST KEEP IT IN THE BOX UNTIL YOU GET SPACE!

Did they get one?  Because it'd be silly not to if you think you will eventually have the space.  We've shopped them, looking for deals.

No she just couldn't pull the trigger on it.

I'd be conflicted in that position.  Like her, I am not ready for it now, but at the same time, if it was a good enough offer, I know it is something I will have one day, so might as well get it when it's cheap.  I probably would have got it and stored it.

Well I'm not feeling so bad feeding my chickens scraps after I just recently watched them fight over and then wolf down a small rodent (a vole  ???)   [smiley=confused.gif] [smiley=puke.gif] that they got a hold off.
