NC to UK! (hopefully!!!)
« on: January 14, 2018, 08:55:02 PM »
Hi everyone!

My name is Ellen and I am *hoping* to be moving to the UK (Colchester) to join my fiancé in May! STRESSING over the visa...but I'll go to the correct board for that ;) A bit about myself- I have lived in NC my whole life (Mooresville-Wilmington-Greenville) and I am currently finishing up grad school at East Carolina University. Very much looking forward to crossing the pond! And happy to have found this community as well :)

Best!
Ellen

p.s.- if you are familiar with the fiancé visa and its requirements- please help me!

Hi Ellen, welcome!

Just want to check if you specially need to marry in the U.K.? It’s a whole lot easier, cheaper and less stressful to marry in the US and apply directly for the spouse visa.

Thanks for your reply! Sadly my fiance won't be able to return to the states until I move. I truly wish we would have gotten married over Christmas!

I've got to warn you that there is a serious shortage of grits around here, and NO decent biscuits at all. Plenty of tea.  Hope you like tea. And talking about the weather...

Why, the weather is just lovely. Every day of the year. Especially when one is a newly-wed.  ;)

Welcome to the board.

And forget about finding decent pork rinds or bbq.
