Settlement Visa
« on: January 15, 2018, 04:13:10 PM »
Hello everyone!
I’m preparing to send off my settlement visa paperwork to Sheffield and I was wondering if anyone has a guideline regarding the order of the paperwork?
I have the guide to supporting documents printed out but I see it hasn’t been updated since 2012.
Also, am I meant to put my passport photo onto my printed out visa application (from online)?

Thank you so much! You guys have been absolute life savers.

Just order the documents in a way that makes sense (all accommodation documents together, financial together, relationship together).

If you paid for priority service, put that on the very top of your pile.  :)

I put the passport photo in an envelope.

Don’t forget copies of anything you want returned to you.

Are you comfortable with everything that you’re sending? If you would like to post your document  list here, we can check it over for you.  :)

Thank you so much Larrabee!
My current list is as follows:

The VAF4A
My appointment confirmation with the stamp
Current and past passport
Marriage certificate
VOE letter
Bank statements
Payslips
W2s
A letter from my in laws stating I can/we can live there
Husbands VOE letter (he is the UK citizen)
Husbands payslips
Husbands bank statements

You do not need to include ANY employment information from you as it cannot be considered, so you can take out your employer letter, payslips, bank statements and W2s.

Just going to rearrange your documents into the different sections for the visa. My additions are in blue:

Applicant:
- Settlement Priority Processing Receipt (if purchasing)
- Printed online application
- The VAF4A Appendix 2
- Biometrics appointment confirmation with the stamp
- IHS surcharge number/receipt
- Current and past passport
- Passport photo
- shipping label

Sponsor
- Husbands bio data page from his passport
- Sponsor letter of support

Finances - which category?
Husbands VOE letter (he is the UK citizen) - what do you mean by VOE?
Husbands payslips - how many months?
Husbands bank statements - how many months?
Original Job contract
Latest P60

Accommodation
- Inlaw's Land Registry document
A letter from my in laws stating I can/we can live there

Relationship
Marriage certificate
2 photos together
Boarding passes from trips to see each other
Letters and cards sent to each other
Evidence of regular communication through the entire relationship... email inbox screenshots, call logs, message logs etc.

Photocopies of any original documents you wish to be returned

You include the copies at the back of the pile with rest of your documents.

I will have a letter from husband- Stephen- confirming that he is our sponsor and our marriage is legit.

The sponsor letter should address each requirement of the visa to show he is able to be your sponsor:

Paragraph 1: his eligibility to be a sponsor for the visa (his UK citizenship)
Paragraph 2: his current employment details (job title, salary, length of employment) and which financial requirement category he meets
Paragraph 3: where you will live in the UK, including address and property details
Paragraph 4: short history of the relationship (no lovey-dovey or personal stuff about your feelings, just be concise and factual), including dates you met, entered into a relationship, got engaged, got married. How often you visit each other (dates and length of trip) and how you communicate while apart (email, Skype, messages etc.). Also, the reason for settling in the UK instead of him moving to the US.

I wonder if it's American?  I immediately read it as Verification of Employment.

Maybe.

It's not something I've heard before - I knew it meant the employer letter, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the 'V' and 'O' might stand for.

Ksand24- I’m at a loss for which category?
He is a UK native and he will be sponsoring me through his job in the UK. I am going over on a settlement visa as his wife.

By VOE I mean a letter from the company he works stating when he started and his current salary.
However his contract (which we will add) would definitely outline all of that information.
We have 7 payslips provided for him and 6 months of bank statements.

Should we only provide 2 photos? We have several from the wedding and from our visits to each other.

Larrabee you are correct and it is American!
I hail from Texas and I’m moving to Andover.
Or attempting to anyway. Lol

He is a UK native and he will be sponsoring me through his job in the UK. I am going over on a settlement visa as his wife.

You need to know the category so you know which questions to fill out on VAF4a Appendix 2. If he is employed in the U.K., it will either be Category A or Category B.

For Category A, he must have worked for the company for at least 6 months, earning at least £18,600 for that entire time. You provide 6 months of payslips showing at least £1,550 before tax on each one (assuming he is salaried), and 6 months of bank statements showing the deposit of each payslip.

For Category B, he must have been with his current employer for LESS than 6 months and/or has not been earning at least £18,600 for the whole time AND he must have earned at least £18,600 in the last 12 months. You provide 12 months of payslips showing total earnings of at least £18,600 before tax, and 12 months of bank statements showing the deposit of each payslip.

You need to tick which Category it is (A or B) in Part 3 of Appendix 2 and then only complete the relevant questions for that category.

However his contract (which we will add) would definitely outline all of that information.

The letter is mandatory and must include ALL of the following:
- job title and current salary
- length of employment
- length of time earning current salary
- type of employment

The employment contract is only optional but they can ask to see it, so we recommend sending it just in case.

hould we only provide 2 photos? We have several from the wedding and from our visits to each other.

The photos are only to prove you have met at least once in person. We normally recommend sending one from the wedding and one from early in the relationship. Any more is unnecessary.

The important things to show are visits to see each other and evidence of regular communication while apart.
