I made the mistake of booking my biometrics appointment at a VFS center. There had been no mention of fees while I submitted my settlement application online, and I only learned about the $1,700 VFS fees after it was too late to reschedule.
I went to a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) - as mentioned on the uk.gov page - and they were super awesome. They took my biometrics, entered my GWF number into the system, and stamped the appointment confirmation form with the VFS center's information on it - no problem.
Does anyone know if I can mail my complete application with this ASC-stamped form, even though I didn't book my appointment there online?
