Yeah, the actual visa fees don't increase until April 6th, so you have a couple of weeks.

They haven't announced when the IHS surcharge will double yet. It could potentially April 6th, or it might not be until later in the year.

It will probably increase just in time for my October application lol but I’m pleased with the rest of the fees

hey guys

my understanding is that you can apply for (on the 5 year spousal route) ILR and citizenship at the same time.

If I were to do this, in person, in September 2019, am I right in thinking it will cost £4329?
Sept '11: premium service same-day tier 4 visa granted in NYC
July '13: tier 4 visa - applied from boston
October '14: FLRM - applied priority in sheffield office
March '17: FLRM 2 - applied priority in sheffield office
Sept 2019: IRL, priority at Croydon, granted same day
October 2019: submitted naturalisation application
January 2020: citizenship approved!
March 2020: last citizenship ceremony before covid :-O

No, you can’t do it at the same time.

You need to apply for and receive ILR first and then you can apply for citizenship afterwards... because one of the requirements to apply for citizenship is that you already hold ILR (and have your ILR BRP) on the date you apply for citizenship.

You can apply for ILR in person, which costs £2,389 plus £610 for then Premium appointment. For citizenship though, you have to apply by post, and it can take up to a few months to be granted, which will cost £1,330.

So, yes, the total price will be £4,329, but you can’t apply for them at the same time. You’ll need to apply for and receive ILR first (either in person or by post) and then apply for citizenship after that (by post).

What you can do is apply for citizenship and your passport at the same time.

Currently you can still do NCS and JCAP if you use the paper form. That's Nationality Checking Service and Joint Citizenship And Passport application.

If you use the online form it'll be NDRS Nationality Document Return Service, which you can also combine with JCAP.

The cost for those services depends on the council but currently is under £100 plus your passport fee on top of the citizenship fee.

Tried looking but was unsure - as long as we postmark by April 5th then we are good for 993?
2015
June 13th: Married  June 14th: Applied online
June 18th: Biometrics and posted documents
July 8th:  Retroactively upgraded to Priority
July 10th: Email with decision and documents shipped

2018
Feb 1: Here we go again
April 5: Sent off FLR(M)
June 4: I've got another 30 months!

thanks ksand and larrabee! think I'd confused which pieces could be jointly applied for, thanks for clearing that up.

unfortunately, i guess i just realised that there will be another increase before I apply, as these prices are likely to rise again next spring, yeah?

sigh. thanks, larrabee. I guess I'll continue to save assuming it'll all add up to £5500, as I've been doing :-(

Just to confirm, you cannot apply for ilr and citizenship jointly, but you can send of your application for naturalization the day you get your ilr brp. You just need to have ilr before you can apply

Yes, as long as you are married to a UK citizen, then you can apply for citizenship as soon as you get your ILR BRP.

If you weren't married to a UK citizen (and you qualified for ILR by other means), you would have to hold ILR for 12 months before you could apply for citizenship.
