Yes, citizenship next--my mistake. I haven't started looking into it yet, which is pretty obvious from my error. I just can't face it right now.

Most people find the citizenship application much easier than getting the visas.  :)

Hi all,

Just been skimming through this thread.

Do I get the impression that it's better to book an appointment for ILR instead of using the IDV app?

Thanks.

It seems that way if its a safe option for you. Although some who went to Croydon haven't been approved yet, most who went to in person appointments received approvals within a week or two.

Thanks.

Hopefully I'll get one nearer than Croydon as that is too far from me.

I'm getting that impression too. That isn't an option for me because I live with someone who is high risk. We are really limiting travel and contact with others unless it's an absolute emergency (doctors, food shopping, chemist, etc). I'll just have to be patient, as I said. Croydon would require public transport for me, and I am too nervous to do that still, especially with infection rates rising.

It isn’t a given, but I’m not sure if it’s because of visa type. I opted out when I received the IDV app invite and did in-person for FLR(M) on 10th September and do not have a decision. I have seen ILR being approved faster though, but I’d say don’t get your hopes up too much so you aren’t disappointed if the appointment doesn’t move things along.

We applied for ILR(M) on 14th May and opted for the app as we had already uploaded all our docs! We are now wishing we had traveled to glasgow for the in-person appointment as two people we know who did not use the app but went to the appointment and got the scanning done by them have already been approved! one applied at the end of April and the other at the begining of June.

UKVI Update Page: It looks like they have removed the line that said they would send an email within two weeks to all those who used the App. Now they just say they are 'unable to maintain service standards.' See below. ARGH!

Update about the IDV app
The IDV app has been successfully rolled out over the last five weeks to deal with the delays caused by COVID-19. We are now fully up to speed and are successfully submitting thousands of applications each day to UKVI.

All customers who are eligible for biometric reuse and registered with UKVCAS up to 18 September 2020 will have received an invitation from us to download and use the IDV app by 23 September 2020.
After you have submitted your application on the IDV app, all supporting information is sent to UKVI within 24 hours.
UKVCAS cannot provide any status updates about your application once it has been submitted to UKVI.
The unprecedented impact of COVID-19 means that UKVI are unable to maintain their usual service standards for all applications made in the UK. UKVI understands that this means some applicants are waiting longer for a decision.

BUGGER!

Is there any GOOD news these days?

I'm really at the point of giving up. After a ptsd triggering medical appointment yesterday and the visa mess and unemployment, it all seems so pointless. Just like everything, this too shall pass, but I would discourage anyone considering a move to the UK from it until there's a labour government again.

Another update today, normal service has resumed.

https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/flash-message-detail?flashmessageId=74833

Unfortunately, the line about receiving an update email is still missing - so I guess we aren't getting that. Not that it would have helped anyways. It would have likely been another automated email fired off saying 'We're sorry this is taking so long, please be patient but don't contact us'. I doubt that would have given any of us an individual update on our case.

Absolutely maddening. We would definitely have done the priority next day, yet here we are months later, still waiting for goodness knows how long. It 's infuriating to know that if we needed to apply today, we could have done so and got the next-day?

Sorry, I'm venting a little. I expect that now our application will fall further down the list as priority applications come back and so on and so on.
