In the Instant Pot - And quite boringly , but it was yummy.   I used chicken breast chunked, and diced up celery, carrots, onion, green pepper, 2 cloves of garlic, a tin oftomatoes, a wee bottle of Franks' Red Hot Sauce (all), some cayenne pepper and liquid smoke and threw in a few handfuls of macaroni. Sauted off chicken and veg in a wee bit of rapeseed oil, added everything else, made sure macaroni was covered then cooked for 12 minutes all in one pot. Easy peasy.
I think it would probably be nice with blue cheese crumbles added afterwards.

Assuming the pasta was uncooked, right?

Do you love your instant pot? I've been eying one for ages but didn't know anybody who has one to to know if it's worth it.

Oh it's the BEST! Seriously.   It does take a bit of trial and error, but when you get it working, it's amazing. Risottos are perfect.  Curries and stews and chillies all taste like they've been simmering for hours.  Easy to make 1 dish pasta recipes. You can also do things like make yoghurt, slow cook, make cheesecakes in it, etc. It's very useful.

There's an instant pot thread somewhere on here :) I love mine; need to get a UK compatible one! (Giving my US model to my mom.)

So cravings ... I want a massive bowl of Pho ... and of course no where near to order it from. Going to have to settle for Tom Yum. Trying to avoid becoming acquainted with the NHS already with an awful cold.

My sister posted about her pumpkin and apple butter pancakes she made yesterday which looked utterly amazing. So I would like those, please!
Would need to make apple butter first though.

And then, looking up apple butter recipes, I of course came across cider donuts. Oh cider donuts, mmmmm...

Swiss cheese.

I hate Swiss cheese!  But I'm sat here eating paprika sausage and extra mature "crackler" cheddar, and I had an odd desire to taste that odd sweetness of Swiss.

Do they have Swiss cheese as Americans know it over here?  Is there a "real" cheese that American Swiss is based on?  I know so little about cheese.

I always thought it was based on Swiss Emmanthal or Jarlsberg which I think is Norwegian.

Edit: I forgot to mention that they're both widely available in the UK. I find Emmenthal has a nutty flavor which is pleasing to me and quite mild. Jarlsberg is similar and I prefer it because it's more creamy to me.

Nutty!  That's the quality I couldn't name!  Thanks, yes, that's what I meant.  But I think I'll try the Jarlsberg.  That sounds nice.  Now to remember to look for it next time I shop.  :)

Oh.  In the US, I could easily find a "cheese" spread... port wine cheese.  I loved to spread it on Wheat Thins for a sweet-tangy snack.  Any idea if that's a thing over here?  I know the spread is a throwback to cheese logs/balls of the 60s and 70s dinner parties... they would be rolled in chopped walnuts, or something.  I just want the spread, without the coating.

jfkimberly--I've only had port wine cheese once back in 1990 so my memory isn't brilliant but isn't it just cheddar cheese with cream cheese and a touch of port that's rolled with nuts? I can imagine it's easy to make I mention this because I just asked my MIL who used to be in the food trade in her first career. She said that she had "heard" that cheese balls were popular in the US but that she definitely never encountered it in her lifetime in England. She did add, "there's a first for everything I suppose". She suggested that it sounded like something you may find at Fortnum & Masons, Selfridges, Waitrose or M&S in the Christmas aisles.

I'm not on a computer and my phone has a hard time copying and pasting but I found a recipe from a site called,
www.aforkstale.com
that has a nice looking recipe for a port wine cheese ball and looks easy.
