Student Visa and working
« on: March 06, 2006, 06:20:22 PM »
Hi everyone,

My DH and I will be moving to London this coming September.  I will be there on a student visa (for 13 months), so DH would be coming as my accompanying spouse.  My impression is that as a full time student I could work up to 20 hours per week (or 40 during breaks), and he can work up to 40 hours a week.

My question is: does he need to get a seperate work permit to work?  Or is the student visa itself permit you work?  Can you tell I am confused.... :-\\\\ :-\\\\

Funny enough, I managed an entire international student program here in the US and was completely compentent with the different US student visas/work permits...I think maybe my understanding of the US system just lends to the confusion of the UK system....

Thank you in advance!
Sheramy

He needs to get a student dependent visa- he will be allowed to work full time, no restrictions, while you of course are subject to the 20/40hrs per week rule as you outlined above.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12
