Nestle Toll House Cookies!
« on: January 07, 2004, 08:00:07 PM »
We just got these at work today.  My co-workers accused me of having tears in my eyes.   ;)  So, be on the look out for them in garages and coffee shops!  Yum.

Wait...you mean they are selling the morsels here now? Or is Nestles selling the already-baked cookies?

Already baked cookies I'm afraid.  They come frozen and then we bake them in this cookie display thing.  They taste perfect, I have to say.

Might taste better that way, actually. I used to make the BEST toll house cookies in the US. Here, they just come out all flat and greasy. I did bring back some morsels and some Gold Medal flour from the US during an October visit, hoping to recapture the cookie prowess, but I haven't tried making them yet. Too scared they too will fall flat.

*sigh*
All this wonderful baking I did in the US, only to come here and have nothing taste/work out the same.

Ive resorted to buying wannabe morsels from sainsbury's. They come in a red package and can be found by the cake mixes. They'll do if you really want chocolate chip cookies but there really is nothing like a tollhouse cookie.

Another thing you might want to consider putting in the cookies instead of those chips is plain M&M's or M&M minis!! They make lovely and colorful cookies too!!

Hope you don't mind yet another idea! One of my favorite things to bake is chocolate Chip cookies and I was really disappointed in the chips I could find at Waitrose - so I took a large Cadbury Bar and cut each cube into 4 pieces (or you could just crush them hehe) and use that instead! They are now my husband's favorite cookie. I've also made them with chilled mars bars- they come out messier (the nougat melts as you can imagine) but are very tasty, too!

Yumm...I think I need to make cookies now hehe

Ooh, that's a great idea! I love the taste of chocolate over here, far more than in the US. Hmmmm...

I'm a hazelnut fan myself. Have you tried Galaxy? A richer, creamier choco than Cadbury's. However, Ferrero Rochet wins with me hands down.
