screening test guidelines
« on: September 01, 2005, 05:19:29 PM »
I just got a brochure from my insurance here in California ( Blue Shields)  and I found a guideline of all the tests that women should have.  I found it to be interesting it states:

Pap test    Annually until 2 consecutive normal tests, then at leat every 3 years

Mammogram   Every 1 to 2 years for women 50-69 years

Isn't it the same with the NHS?
It's interesting because my doctor still wants me back every year but evidently it's not necessery

In the UK you get a "smear test" (pap) once every three years.
When I was living in the USA I had to go every year otherwise I couldnt get my BC pill perscription re-newed.
Also they dont do mamograms till you are 50 here in the UK. I thought in the USA it was much younger. Things have certainly changed.
