Bringing Dog Food To Feed On Arrival
« on: March 29, 2014, 11:25:26 AM »
We will be flying to the UK in June with two dogs, hopefully out of Toronto so we can get a direct flight (we live near Buffalo NY).   I've read that bringing dog food with you can be a problem at customs, but I'm also concerned about not being able to feed my dogs for a long time after we arrive.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

I don't think many people have encountered problems doing this.

Do a search of the forum here, plenty of people have written about their experiences with pet food.

You will want to tape several Ziplock bags of food to the crates, though it's unlikely they will be fed during their trip (there in case of a delay), so you'll definitely have all of that food.  I also doubt that you will have a problem with off good in your checked baggage with the airline (just declare it on your customs declaration).

I think the issues arise when people put good in their containers that are being shipped.

Brilliant idea about the food taped to the crates!  I can see that I am going to be relying on this forum for guidance on a regular basis for the next few months.  :-)
