We previously brought our large dog over to Europe on Air Berlin. Our flight was from San Francisco to Dusseldorf for only 150 euros in cargo. We then took a ferry to the UK. This saved us thousands of £s as every other way into the UK at that time was extremely expensive.
Now we're looking to take our dog back to San Francisco. Air Berlin no longer flies directly to SFO, and it wouldn't be ideal given that we'd have to get to Dusseldorf.
So we are wondering if there is another good London option that won't cost thousands of £s? It looks like Lufthansa only changes $400 for dogs, and you can book a Lufthansa flight that is operated by United for nonstop London-SFO. Another factor is that this will be a roundtrip ticket.
Any other suggestions?
