Computer Discs??

I know that most of our American DVDs will not play in the UK unless we have a player with the various regional options - is the same true of computer discs? e.g. software discs or game discs?  Will US discs work in a UK computer?

I play my US DVD's in my UK purchased computer and we've often brought software (games in particular) discs back from the US and they've worked fine.

Unlike DVDs, computer disks are world wide.
