EU National - Domestic Partnership, eligibility for working in the UK

Good afternoon all,

Just looking for some information regarding a domestic partnership - eligibility for working in the UK.

My partner is EU national (French by birth) and resides in the UK, myself a US citizen on holiday visa (leaving for the US in March).

1) Need to know what are my viable options?
2) Would i be able to stay and/or applying for a VISA within the UK - on the basis that we are currently in a domestic partnership?
2) Do we need to register our partnership and if so, in which country?
3) Hopefully, if things go as planned, how long would it take for me to get authorization to work?
4) Is the process painless?

You can only apply on the basis of your partnership if you have been living together for two years and have documentary evidence of this.
