Stranger in the Camp
« on: December 05, 2003, 01:05:38 PM »
Just a note to introduce myself...
and explain why a Brit living in Britain is registered on a US ex-pats board  ::)

I own a small company in the UK and by a long, convoluted set of compications I found myself also owning a similar small company in the USA.

Travelling to the USA on a regular basis I am always struck by the helpful attitude to me both in business and personally.. and maybe I should extend that practice over here,

I have started an employee exchange between the USA & UK(although as yet no staff have actually travelled)

I hope to use this site to help the USA staff assimilate as painlessly as possible by obtaining an insight to the problems and advantages of being  American in the UK  (I will point them in this direction as well)

I hope you all will not mind me asking stupid questions, or offering help and advice when I can.

Yours
Rikki

Welcome Rikki. Sounds like an awesome plan to me.  What a great boss you are!  This sounds like a project we can all participate in.  How fun.  Let us know how we can help.  Or should be just continue being our sometimes silly but always helpful selves?

You dont want a job do you :D

I could use a PR person to keep the unruly mob I pay wages too on my side :D :D

Only kidding :D....  the guys in the USA and UK are great... in fact both sides of the Atlantic have banned me from making decisions re: the companies as it screws up their plans :(

I have a philosphy... if it works... dont change it... both sets of staff work hard  and do well... I dont need to get involved!!

I do believe that I have an opportunity by the exchange system to give both sets a chance to expand their horizons and views ... and that can only benefit both companies.

Hi Rikki,

Welcome to UKY...and thank you for your welcome back to my post.

What a great concept you have...I think it will prove to be an excellent communicative process for your employees...  ask any silly questions you like...

Oh yeah!  There are decent bosses around!  :) Makes me feel better.

Welcome on board Rikki and it's good to have you here.

Sorry about not formally welcoming you sooner, but I have been mad Christmas shopping in recent days.

I am just curious to know what parts of the USA do you like the best?

Looking forward to your posts!

Hi all.. sorry for the delay in replying

I own a small business information company in the UK and also in Missouri,

we specailise in information for the transport industry,   not very exciting I am afraid :(

My favourite part of the USA is Kentucky, in particular Louisville which I travel to every year, stay at the same hotel and manage to attend a little of a trade show held there every year.

However I do enjoy the pace of life in deepest Missouri which I also mange to get too a lot :)

My brother lives in Knob Noster.
I think that's such a funny town's name.
