Hi, me again!
I am planning to apply online on Monday; as you can tell, I am dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s. I don't know why I never noticed this before but as I looked over the guidance notes on my daughter's dependent visa, I noticed something strange! Hopefully someone else has encountered this before and can ease my new fears!
Page 5, Part 7 of the notes, "Travellers under the Age of 18", Subsection 7.3, says:
If accompanied, please provide full details of up to two adults who will accompany you, including their passport numbers and your exact relationship to them.
Easy enough, it will be me. But read on:
Please provide details of accompanying adult's full name, date of birth, passport number, address and telephone number. Up to two adults may be listed as accompanying you (the child). These details will be recorded on your (the child's) visa. If in the future you (the child) want to travel without the named adult(s), or with different adults you (the child) will need a new visa. If the adult(s) you are accompanying to the UK already has a UK visa, or does not require one, please provide evidence of this.
EEEEK! What the heck? Is this true or is it something that doesn't apply to a settlement visa? I mean, I will be working, she will be visiting the US all summer long, etc. I had planned to pay for an escort for an unaccompanied minor and have her father pick her up on the other side. We really can't afford to fly us both back and forth three times a year (or me four times a year if I don't want to spend every summer in the US). Please tell me this is only for visitor's visas or something!
