Sometimes you just can't control things.  So frustrating. Our applications were completed within 2 days of getting the go-ahead from PwC. But our employer gifted us a 45 day wait for our CoS.

We did not get my spouse's bank statements certified, could not get the landlord to confirm I would be allowed to live on the property (the leasing company did not say I could not but would not confirm until I am in the UK), my husband's salary is just over 18600 (between 2 jobs), and we didn't use a lawyer so I feel like there is more we missed.

Is anyone planning on living in Sheffield??

Using a lawyer isn't necessary! We needed help due to some complications, but people on the board here have a great grasp on spousal visas. If you've submitted your application already, all you can do is wait and hope.

The certified statements? Were they original ones sent to him
Or were they print offs?

If they were originals sent to him they didn't need to be stamped by the bank so you are ok on that end.

In terms of the housing you can hope they might ask for additional information. Keep the faith and if not we are all here to help you get it right the next time!

Thanks everyone for being supportive! I wish I would have found this forum before we applied.

The bank documents were just online printouts :(

Who knows what might happen? I know it's stressful to wait, but you can't change anything about your application now. We all have to wait and hope for the best.

I have come to believe that most of the examiners want couples together and will email applicants if there are some missing pieces.  Then there are a few who scour for any tiny reason to refuse and they don't email, they just reject.

So at least partially, it's luck of the draw.

They've been really good about requesting extra documents lately - it's happening more often than not these days, whereas a few years ago, they didn't contact many people at all and it was pretty much an automatic refusal if you forgot anything!

Really try not to worry until you have something to worry about.   :)  And who's to say they can tell an online printout from a the ones they mail.  Often times they look exactly the same.

No need to worry - 12 weeks is the projected timeline given for ALL settlement applications... because it is UKVI's processing standards time. Their target is 95% of all settlement visas processed in 12 weeks.

However, they do not guarantee any particular processing time for priority, so everyone should get the generic 12 week timeline in their email, regardless of whether they are priority or non-priority.

I have never seen priority processing take longer than about 5-6 weeks (even when non-priority was 5 months last year, priority was still only 5 weeks)

So are the processing times on the website just really misleading?

Those times are business days and also exclude holidays.  So 30 business days would be about 6 weeks.  Additionally, those are for February, which everyone says was a fairly quick month, processing wise!   ;D

Essentially, yes.  Those processing times are for visas PROCESSED in February, so no real telling when they were received.  The chart also combines and does not distinguish priority versus non-priority.  So as priority applications are usually processed quite swiftly, it really skews the statistics.  Likely non-priority received around the holidays and priority received in January/February.
