Christmas Market 2018?
« on: November 04, 2018, 02:52:49 PM »
Sounds like everybody had a good time at the Blizzard Party (sorry again that I couldn't make it).

Is anybody interested in doing a Christmas market?

If so, what are your thoughts about Birmingham or Bath (both I hear are meant to be quality)? Happy for suggestions of others if you're aware of any other good ones. Just want to find one that is a good location for the majority who are wanting to go. Thoughts?

I'm interested, though unfortunately I'm not free on many dates.

I believe I'm only free on Sun 9th Dec, Sat 15th, Sun 16th Dec and Sun 23rd Dec. All the other weeks, I'm working Friday and Saturday night shifts :(.

From my research the other day,

- Bath Christmas Market runs from Thursday 22nd November to Sunday 9th December

- Birmingham Christmas Market runs from Thursday 15th November to Sunday 23rd December.

Other 2018 Christmas Markets are listed here:

Thanks for re-posting the details above over here - was going to do that but forgot until after I hit "post" lol. I would probably prefer a Sunday myself and won't be in the country from the 19th of December until the second week of Jan but I know it's a busy time of year so if the general consensus is that it's either too soon to have another meetup OR  it's too busy at this time of year to fit one in, we can look at doing a post-holiday thing in January perhaps?

I would like to go depending on the dates. December is pretty busy for us. Work Christmas parties ( though I think mine falls on a Friday this year), my thirtieth birthday ( of which I know my work friends are planning something on the 8th), hubby has something up his sleeve as well.

I know that feeling...I've got my birthday at the very end of November which I imagine I won't really be doing anything but I'm not positive and I have a few different Christmas-related activities before leaving for Christmas in the US so I'll look at my calendar tomorrow and see if any line up with ksand's dates and see if everybody else is free too. If it's too hard we can just look to meet up in the new year.

I've been wanting to do a Christmas market, I haven't done one yet... Hubby hasn't been well in December so lots of walking has been out.

I was thinking of doing Birmingham and was hoping that the Tim Hortons might be open by then.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I know Birmingham is an longer but achievable distance from where I am (and there's the option of the train) so perhaps that would be a good option for those of you further up north as well. Not sure how the Welsh folks are feeling though so will see what they say :)

Added a poll to do a preliminary temperature check. Allowed up to 4 votes so you could pick the 4 that suit you the best.

We would love to go, Christmas/New Year's is super busy at our pub though so it would have to be before or after the school holidays for us, or we can try for the next one. :)

Sounds good -  do you want to vote on the poll?  Might mean that if a lot of people vote post-Christmas, we will just take that approach or if there's a particular day that's easier for you on a weekend we can see if the majority are okay with it :)

It's at the top of the page. It might not show up on mobile.

It's at the top of the post but, as Larrabee pointed out, it might not work on mobile :(

And, to be fair, I added it after your original comment I think.
