ILR & access to public funds
« on: April 24, 2008, 07:27:10 PM »
i've got my appointment for my ILR application on monday.

assuming it's granted, do i then have access to public funds? only asking because we need to apply for child benefit & family tax credit now that dd has arrived.

(please don't be mad at me--i did run a search before i posted this query! :-[)

Nik evan without the ILR your husband can claim child benifit and tax credits, its just that can't, but I believe once you receive your ILR you can also receive benifits as the no recouse to public funds will be lifted so you can claim in your own right.

The child benifit your husband can claim regardless for the baby, but the tax credits you have to a see how much your both earning to be entitled to them.

Good luck Monday

I hope we get better weather with the new year I am getting rained out.

Good luck to everyone with respective visa applications.

your husband can apply for child benefit in his own name right now with her birth certificate.
