County judgement? in UK

Not sure where to post this...

What is a county judgement? I think it is if you do not pay a debt.

Is there a time limit on how long they can go after you?

I think you mean a county court judgement - this can be for a variety of civil matters incuding non-payment of a debt. Not sure about the time limit but obviously non payment would affect a person's credit rating and depending on the debt could possibly lead to bankruptcy proceedings.

The magic letters to search for are "CCJ".   Have a look at http://www.bizhelp24.com/credit_policy/credit_repair.shtml which I found to give a good explanation.  Once you pick one up, they stay on your record for 6 years .... so it says .... but then so many people keep credit records these days that I would expect it to hang around after that in some people's databases ...

ok, hubby has not been in the UK since 1996, so we can't even send for a credit report as they say to list the last six years of addresses. So how do we go about it? I would like to know if it still appears on the record. Thanks.
