Waiting for spousal visa...ARGH!
« on: August 23, 2008, 08:46:51 PM »
So its been about 7 or 8 days since they received my visa in Chicago and Im waiting around..... how long does it usually take to get an acceptance or rejection from these people? On the consulate website it says appx 10 days, but Ive heard some horror stories on here about people waiting over a month? Mine is pretty cut and dry, so I hope it doesnt take too much longer...

You'll probably hear something within the time frame they set (if they say 10 days they mean 10 business days)...just be patient. A lot of us have been through it and know it's easier said than done but you'll only get yourself stressed out.

And be glad you're not applying for a Further Leave to Remain or an Indefinite Leave to Remain because those take a minimum of 4-6 weeks. (I'm trying not to stress out about my ILR which arrived there on July 24th  :P)

PrincessJuls02:  WOW!! I can't believe it has already been a month since you posted your ILR.. I know it must seem like forever on your end but it just seems like yesterday that I was reading your posts about you getting it sent in.  Wow.

I know, it's gone by quite fast really! Hoping the next few weeks do as well until I get it back! Will be a load off my mind and will help me get a job (agencies won't let me register because it's still being processed).

For the OP, I just wanted to say I've read that spousal visa are taking up to 20 days at the moment. So if you don't hear back within 10 days try not to stress to much. Good luck :)

Oh ok, well thats good to know.

I think its odd that I was notified by FedEx that they received my package, but the consulate never notified me about anything via e-mail yet. Why is this?

Sometimes they simply don't send emails saying that they've received your application.  I never got one when I applied for my student visa.  I wouldn't read anything into it.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12
