I'm very encouraged reading all the posts about the speedy process.
My package arrived in NY on 29 April.
I've not had any confirmation emails yet.

I have two questions:

1. I've seen several people mention they chose 'priority processing'. I didn't see any option for this when I completed my application. Did I just miss it? Do you think it makes much difference? From the posts here it appears the priority ones are not processed any faster.

2. For all of you who received your visas quicker than expected what was the start date of the visa? Was it the approval date or the date you said you were planning to travel?

I sent my application in three days before we sold our house not knowing exactly when we would be able to move but just picked a random travel date (June 16). Three days later we got an offer on our house with a closing date of June 3. So I'm anxious to get the application approved and to know when it will be valid from so we can make our travel plans and perhaps temporary accommodation since we have to leave our house by June 3. Nerve wracking.

Many thanks and fingers crossed it all goes well.
Best,
Aimee

The priority processing service is not offered when you fill out the application. If you wanted to purchase it you had to go to the Worldbridge website on the day you mailed your documents and purchase it for $300. It is supposed to give 15-working-day processing (vs. a possible 12, or maybe even up to 24 weeks). Application processing times have slowed a bit in recent weeks though, so it seems to be taking 3-4 weeks or so now, rather than just a few days.

The visa is supposed to be made valid from the travel date you put on the application, so I would be prepared not to be able to travel until June 16th. You may be lucky though and find they make it valid from the date it's issued though.

Hey, Just want to say my visa was processed through Sheffield, maybe a week in advance of yours and I just got my passport back today. Also, you may be interested to know the visa was issued started on the processing date of April 30th, not May 20th, my intended day of travel. Don't know if this is the norm though, as I've seen older posts indicating otherwise. Not much from Sheffield though. Good luck!

Congratulations julianedea!
That's awesome and does give me hope. I've seen others on here who also got the issue date and not the travel date. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Now I'm just nervous because I still haven't received my receipt email from Sheffield. It seems like everyone receives this within 5 working days after the docs are received in NY. For me it's already been 6 days and counting... Come on Sheffield!

Don't give up hope yet- Monday was a Bank Holiday, so I think it's only been 5 days for you.  ;)

Thanks! Actually today is the sixth working day not counting the bank holiday. I was so sure it'd come today. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I saw a timeline not too long ago where it took 2 weeks for Sheffield to confirm! But then the visa was approved in like 2 days. You may be one of those lucky folks. Or maybe the passport will just show up one day with visa inside! When my husband and I were waiting we thought maybe NY collects a bunch and sends them all at once ...at the end of the week maybe (we noticed 2 timelines where Sheffield received it on a tuesday). You can spend literally all day stressing about this :( Good luck, stay sane...I'm sure you'll hear from them soon.

I'm pulling my hair out.

Although Sheffield appear to have done a good job standardising the process and being consistent about it, people have reported on occasion not having received all the expected emails. So you could just be one of those unlucky folks.

I'm pulling my hair out.

The waiting is definitely the worst part of the whole process. I completely understand, I worried myself sick and got nothing at all useful done during that time. What I should have done and what I suggest that you do, if you can bring yourself to, is to get busy with all the preparation required for the move.  :)
