They are the best!

The Scots I've come to know, both through work and now my new Ramblers walking group have been nothing but warm and welcoming.

We all love slagging each other off but we all have a shared core belief... that as human beings, we all deserve love, respect and friendship. And it is that belief that makes me love Scotland so much.

Within the bounds of love and respect, that dude on the left is already half undressed and the party hasn't even started!

Seriously, you are lucky as they all clearly love you.

Here’s the first course to my lunch

The oysters were fantastic, and I also like the snail things.  The clam like things were okay.

Mussels and fries after that, then rice pudding

I could go for that.

I need to (learn how to) make southern gravy so I can have it with chips.  I miss that so bad.

What is southern gravy? Brown gravy? Or white?

Yes.  In my sophomore year of high school, I had french fries and gravy for lunch most days.  On the days I didn't have that, I'd have a Hot Pocket.  I had such nutritious lunches that school year.  :)

Slight change of tangent....

American Candy Co has opened up a big shop down in Glasgow City Center just by John Lewis.  Plenty of Dr. Pepper (various varieties), Coke, Jones, Original Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Snapple, Root Beer, etc; sugar donettes, cinnamon donettes, wall-o-Hostess; various cereals, various candies. Quite a large shop, as those shops go.

All ridiculously over-priced, but I did buy a YooHoo for the Daughter (a favorite from her elementary school days) and a box of brown-sugar cinnamon Pop Tarts for me. I will be carefully rationing those out, as I don't believe I paid what I paid for 'em, but I had to have 'em.

 ;D

My mom gave me a quarter a day for lunch. All I could get with that was two biscuits with cream gravy, and a coke. So I had that every day for lunch in high school. Fortunately, the lunch ladies made the biscuits fresh and made their own gravy every day, so it was really good.

I'd LOVE some of their biscuits and gravy right now!

I used my babysitting money to pay for my lunch.  Since I had to pay for it myself, I ate cheap... $1.10/day in the late 80s.  90¢ for the fries, 20¢ for the gravy.  I obviously made much more than that for an hour of babysitting, but the work wasn't consistent, so I had to make my money stretch to make sure I had enough to buy my lunch every day.
