Hi, just moved from Indiana to Wisbech
« on: August 01, 2004, 06:59:54 PM »
Hi,

Just a quick introduction. I moved to a village near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire 3 weeks ago to be with my English Fiance, moved from Wabash, Indiana.

This forum looks like being a massive help on a lot of issues, so thought I would say hello.

Is anyone from round the area that I have moved to?

Dee

Hello, Just wanted to say welcome. I think Cambridgeshire is over 2 hours from me (Warwickshire) but wanted to say hi anyway. I used to live in Elkhart IN when I was growing up. Dont know where Wabash is though.
Take care!

Welcome Shugga... I honestly still have no clue to where most things are in the UK but I have a feeling we are not nearby.  I still wanted to welcome you and thank you for posting an intro.  I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Hi.

Thanks for the welcome. I made the plunge and moved here just over three weeks ago now to be with my future hubby. We go back to the states to get married in November.

Wabash is 2 hours from Indianopolis Pebbles.

Have enjoyed reading through some of the forum, there is lots to get through, but is very nice and reassuring to see that I am not the only person going through this experience.

Wisbech, I am reliably informed by Stu, is in the heart of the Fens, between Peterborough and Kings Lynn.

Speak soon.
Danielle

Welcome to UKY and to England!  There's lot of friendly people here who are happy to help.

Hello and welcome fellow expat-Hooiser. I am way far from you now, I'm up in Scotland, but I was practically in your back yard for many years. I grew up in Marion, IN just a touch south of Wabash!  Congrats on making it to the UK and best wishes for the upcoming wedding.

What a small damned world!

Hi, I live in Ely, Cambridgeshire (oh, about one good spit away from you!) - and I grew up in Huntington Indiana (oh, about one good spit away from Wabash!) And close to Marion, shannon! :) I bought my prom dress in Marion. :)

*getting all goose-pimply!*

SMALL WORLD! :) :D

Hey there - I'm also just a bit down the road from you, just outside Ely.  We've been here since 1991, so give us a shout if there is anything you need.

Wow, very small world!!!!

We drove past Ely the other day when Stu took me banger racing at Mildenhall.

The village where we live is called Newton, between Wisbech and Long Sutton off the A1101 so I am informed!

I used to shop at the Marion Mall all the time, Peterborough is the best I have found so far over here with the Queensgate center.

Look forward to talking some more, very nice to know there are people near me and even stranger is that we were so close in the USA too! Thats knocked me for six!!

Speak to you both soon hopefully.

You should try the Grafton Centre in Cambridge for a mall - it is pretty good, and an easy walk to the town center where the Lion's Yard is, and every store imaginable is there. You can get the train from Wisbech to Cambridge easily - it's worth it!
