Computer Power Adapters

Where is the best place to buy a power adaptor for my inspiron 600m dell laptop and a dell desk top?  Should I go through the Dell site/company?  Or would a place like Homebase/homedepot or a computer store have them here in the US.  What's the cheapest?

Hi Grant,

I'm not familiar with the computer in question, so I don't know its power requirements.   If it just takes a single AC or DC input from the power unit it should be easy to find a suitable generic replacement over here.     You just need to check the voltage and current ratings, type and polarity of connector, and whether AC or DC.  All of this information is normally found on the labels. 

You could go via Dell, but be warned that they're likely to charge much more for one of their branded units.   

I have a Compaq and I was able to go to PC World and purchase a power cord to plug into the power box on my PC for about ₤6.  But it depends on the type of power source you have for your Dell, and whether or not your power source is all one unit, or two separate pieces.

yeah, I think I'm just going to by the plug adapters for 2.99 from an online US outlet.  That seems like it will do the job.

My Sony Vaio has a built in voltage converter in it's original power cord - so I only have to have a plug adaptor.
