Mobile World from Carphone Warehouse
« on: December 14, 2005, 11:52:33 AM »
Was just in there looking for an upgrade for my mobile (battery is dying...)  Anyway, they offer a PAYG plan called 'mobile world'.  15p for calls to UK landlines or mobiles, 7p texts, but....get this.....5p per minute to call landlines OR mobiles in the US!  Amazing to think I could call my parents in Utah for cheaper than calling next door!!! :o
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

FYI...Mobile World will not work if you are abroad.

I find it's generally cheaper to get a prepaid sim card for whatever country I'm in at the time, rather than using international roaming....

I have Mobile World and LOVE the convenience of it. It is really nice to be able to call America (specifically my mum) whenever I feel like it, when at the shop, whatever. It really helps me feel more connected to my family. The service is generally very good as well, at least in London/Edinburgh.

thanks for the suggestion closet.

i just bought mobile world two hours ago so i don't know all the ins and outs yet but i still have my vodaphone sim to use abroad.

i also signed up for talk talk phone and and broadband... i am an easy sell, but I've been investigating different options and this seems as good as any!

i used to use talk talk for my home phone long distance.  they have good deals from time to time.  i was very happy with them for 9 months or so.

one small thing about mobile world...

to check your balance from your mobile you are charged 15p or free from the landline as the call is to an 0800 number... not a big deal if you have access to a landline but other sims let you do it for free.
