Is it possible?
« on: January 10, 2005, 07:08:52 PM »
Hello, I have a question about one of my friends from Italy.
She is 19, she speaks pretty good english and she would like to come to the UK and work there for 1 year. She doesn't want to live in London but other places in the north, maybe Leeds. How hard do you think it would take her to find an easy job, maybe in a clothing store or a grocery store? Just to improve her english and experience life in a different country.
Thank you everyone
Marilena

Well, if she speaks fairly good english I can't see her having too much of a problem.

I think the hardest problem would be actually affording to get here or get a place.

Leeds wouldn't be such a bad place to start if she wants to go into retail. We've got loads of shops. If she has any experience in waitressing or bartending, we've got loads of pubs and clubs and things like that.

Good luck to her, I think she'll do fine.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

She should be ok. My friend's girlfriend is Swiss and she got a job at Starbucks with no problems and most of her language school friends (of various nationalities) had similar jobs.
