So my biometric appointment is on Tuesday and I got my appointment confirmation email. Is that the email I print out and take for them to stamp? And if so should there be like barcode or something?

It’s the biometric appointment confirmation sheet with a barcode that you print from the visa4uk.fco.gov.uk website. Same place where you submit & print the application form from.

Oh I forgot to mention the appendix 2. I do have that as well.

I need to provide a letter and my birth certificate to explain one of my old passports. My birth name is hyphenated with both my parents name, but the passport only shows one of their names. So I provided the birth certificate and the letter to show that i was never previously married and that my legal name is hyphenated because of my parents.

And yes my introduction letter is my cover letter, and yes we have all April 27 - October 17 bank statements and pay slips

So for my copy pile do I need to get a certified copy of my birth certificate or is just a photocopy okay since it isn’t mandatory?

Same kinda goes for my marriage certified, should I send a photo copy for my copy pile or is a certified copy better?

Do I also make copies of the online application and the appendix 2 for the copy pile?

You do not need to send your original or any copies of your birth certificate.  Definitely don't spend money on getting a certified copy for them to keep, as they don't even need to see it.

For your marriage certificate, do send a photocopy in the copies section.  They do want to see (and keep a copy of) your marriage certificate.

There's no need to send a photocopy of the application and appendix 2.  They're going to keep the originals whether you send a copy or not.  But you might find it helpful to make a copy to keep for your own records for future applications (don't send the photocopy).

The date you can travel will all depend on the exact validity dates printed on the visa.

The visa is supposed to be made valid for 30 days starting on the date you put on the form (which would mean you can't enter before that date), though lately, they have been making it valid starting 7 days before.

However, if the date you put on the application has passed before the visa has been issued, it will instead be made valid starting from the date the visa is approved (or a few days after).

You should make copies of any original documents you wish to be returned to you... so it's up to you what you wish to send copies of.

For most people it will be things like marriage certificate, bank statements, payslips etc.

Okay awesome!

One more thing, I’m not entirely sure how to package it. And also do I need to send them an envelope for them to return it back? Some people say no but then others say yea so I don’t know.

No, don’t send a return envelope. They use their own.

Regarding copies, I noticed that Sheffield had been returning copies and originals in months prior. So I opted to send only originals to save on weight. Glad I did because they sent EVERYTHING back, including biometrics receipt (they only kept the application form and appendix 2).

When I pay for the round trip courier service so I get anything else with the shipping labels? Or just the shipping labels?

You’ll get a receipt and the shipping labels. Did you also pay for priority? You do that in one transaction on the VFS website.
