Yes! The McDLT.  I don't remember what DLT stood for, but that was the name of the burger.  I'm thinking it was mid-80s...  some of the 'kids' here weren't even born yet!

Brace yourselves!

Love this!  I think it's McD.LT (McDonald's, Lettuce, & Tomato).  Catchy commercial!

I was like that about red stuff. My mom used to serve my spaghetti noodles with butter and a dash of salt. Now, I can't get enough marinara. But I still don't go anywhere near ketchup. I find it appalling. Like I don't even want it to touch my hands. The smell of it makes me ill. I won't even use it in a recipe. I have to improvise.

I, too, was the kid that wouldn't eat anything red.
Now i'm 55, and I will eat ketchup if it's mixed with mayonnaise, but still peel the toppings off pizza to wipe off the tomato sauce, and wouldn't touch marinara with a bargepole.

This is why, even before I got my tumble dryer, I never hung my washing outside to dry.

I feel like my palate has opened up since I've gotten older but I just can't imagine I'll ever do ketchup. BBQ sauce though... Yes!! All day long! I must have some real trauma around ketchup. I can remember being in elementary school and sometimes they'd serve those disgusting fishsticks for lunch. I never ate them. They were stinky to me. Then I'd see kids dipping them in ketchup. I can still remember that smell. Blorf!  [smiley=puke.gif]

I've recently discovered curry sauce. Omg. Love it. But I love ketchup too. Sometimes I cook hot dogs just to be able to have ketchup.

Now, curry sauce I like! Tastes great on chips.

I actually like mayo and BBQ sauce on my hot dogs. But you can't always get those condiments for a hot dog when you're out somewhere so I am known to just consume them plain and dry. I also love my hot dogs to be practically burnt. Like BBQ grilled up burnt. The best!

From memory:

Two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onion on a sesame seed bun.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I remember that song, but I'm pretty sure I never ate at McDonalds until I came to the UK!  There were always better options... in the town where I grew up, Wendy's was right next door to McD, Pup & Taco was across the road, and Jack in the Box was around the corner.... Del Taco and Burger King a wee bit further along.  Wendy's was my favourite (double cheese plain), with Burger King a close second because (while we are singing songs from memory)...

'Hold the pickle, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us, all we ask is that you let us serve it your way...'    ;D
