HSMP quesiton
« on: January 03, 2007, 05:01:16 PM »
Hello,

Does any one know if there is any truth to " a HSMP work permit holder needs to be in the UK for 6 months before he/she can sponsor dependents" ?

thanks.

where did you hear that?  As far as I know, that's not the case.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

No, it's not true...you must simply have a visa which is valid for over six months...

however, it is increasingly difficult to sponsor dependants to the UK if you are self employed and have no guaranteed income and no substantial savings.

The lady who helped my husband prepare his HSMP told him that. She was not an immigration specialist though, she was just doing his forms b/c he does contract work for them.

Thus far, my only concern regarding sponsoring is the amount of income my husband reports. He is in IT, the tax scheme he uses (completely legal) only shows reported income as 1000 pounds a month, and the rest of his monthly income gets paid to him as a loan that has 0% interest for 100 years.
