Am I Applying Too Early?
« on: October 09, 2004, 03:38:28 PM »
Ok, now that I've manage to resolve the unmarried partnership visa stuff and have substantial evidence to prove a 2 year cohabition/permanant relationship, I have a question about possibly applying too early for the visa. I plan on going to the British Consulate in NYC in December, but I want to wait until March 1, 2005 to move over to the UK. Part of the reason for this is to settle my income taxes at the beginning of the year while I'm still in the US, as well as visit family members in Chicago before I leave. Do you think that the consulate will feel that the application is too early?

It's not a question of feeling, but rather one of policy.  They can forward date the validity of an entry clearance up to 90 days from the issue date.  And exceptionally, even more.  And don't forget that the clearance itself is good for a while also.
