SSN and taxes
« on: January 19, 2010, 04:39:38 PM »
Not sure if this is the right place move me if necessary,
So I'm a US citizen living in the UK on a spouse visa, got married in June (in the US and worked in the US until mid November when I came over to the UK)and only changed my name on my bank account and on my drivers license. I never changed it at work so they will send my W-2's in my maiden name which will cause an issue with my tax refund check being in the wrong name.  Also I neglected to change my name on my SSN does anyone know how I can do this from the UK (Glasgow is where I am located)?
Thanks for any help,
Lauren

You should put your correct name on your tax return.  Your W-2s being in a different name isn't going to be a problem, I don't think.  Remember, those are issued by your employer and your employer isn't the one who issues you a tax refund check - it's the IRS.
