ksand24 (who is a guardian angel on this forum I swear) just posted a fantastic basic list of documents you would need for a spousal visa: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=90714.0

It's a good starting point.

Edit: except you will need the IHS payment in your's and other bits, the person on that forum is the spouse of an armed forces member.

But totally make your own thread- people are completely willing to help out with detailed questions that you have and will have more and better advice than I, a novice.

Hi  KH3PP3125, someone on another forum told me it would be fine to apply with the 6 paychecks + bank statements, so I applied on April 30 and my husband completed 6 months on May 1. I am really really nervous about this, and my advice would be to listen to everyone here and wait to apply. I'm anticipating a refusal for this and a couple of other reasons, so I'll wait to reapply in September. Is that an option for you? You'll save time that way. However, if you can hold off on the birthday deadline, I'd say apply when he completes 6 months.

I wish they made concessions for parents AND spouses of British kids, my eldest was born in the UK!

Like Lyonaria said, I would file at the end of July just to be safe and apply priority. UKVI are very particular.

It's not "to be safe", it's meeting the primary requirement of the visa for Category A.  You MUST shave been employed for a minimum of six months.  We had a member refused last fall for applying one day too early!

The thing is, it specifically states on the vfs global website that it is not possible to upgrade after you have submitted your application so if you choose to try, you need to be aware that it would be a gamble as to whether Sheffield would honor the upgrade.

Purplepeopleeater talked here about how she did it.  :)

I agree; but again, I was cautioning to start a new thread cause I don't know the in and outs like you guys. I just knew about 6 months, but I didn't know if "6 months were equal to 6 payslips" so I felt it safer to say months. But to still start a new thread XD I am but a novice.

I don't *think* any non-priority April have heard, but we do have some decisions for non-priority March...especially early March.

Hi DavyGravy,

No NP April people have heard back (or reported that they have). We are still waiting for two March people to officially get their visas. It'll probably be a while for us. Please see below the list of people that applied non-priority. The date before their username is the date that Sheffield received their documents.

Mar-03   marenleigh
Mar-29   jningc
Apr-20   natoley
Apr-24   solaire129
Apr-24   RappaGos
May-11   getme2england
May-15   AmericanMom

The waiting game is starting to hit me and I'm only on week 3!  ::) I'm hoping/wishing/praying that I'll get my visa round middle/end of July. That would be around 10-12 weeks. Fingers crossed they start to pick up the pace a little here! I was going to upgrade to priority, but then decided against it. I'm not much of a gambler! lol

I don't mean to be a downer, but I'd plan for at LEAST 12 weeks.

If you need to say 10-12 weeks to get yourself through the next 7, then go ahead. You gotta do what you gotta do. :) But in my case, I need to prepare for worst case scenarios. 6 weeks for priority was my personal worst case scenario, and we're coming up to that for me. And I'm flipping out. So...if you're like me, it might be a good idea to extend that mental timeline. It's a HARD wait.

Has the timeline changed?  The averages were around 54 days.
