Bread flour
« on: February 20, 2024, 11:21:47 PM »
Amazing how hard it is here to find bread flour that does not have additives/enrichments (vitamins) added to it. Or malted barley/enzymes.  Seriously, I just want a finely-ground wheat flour.  I seem to remember in the UK that bread flour was just flour. As in, ground grain kernels.

Am I misremembering?

(I finally found that King Arthur's whole wheat flour here is only whole wheat flour. Which isn't exactly what I was looking for, but it's a start.)

I've been very happy with Shipton Mill for many years. Wide range of flours with no nasty additives.

Nice!  I forgot to add that I'm in the USA again now.  But if I was still over there I'd be checking your recommendation out, for sure!

Apologies. I misunderstood your email. Are there no local mills close to you?

I know in Cambridge MA, my partner sourced flour from here during the COvid lockdowns:

Oh, that's a great resource, thanks!  I will contact them - they're just a good daytrip away from where I live.

And no need to apologize, I was not clear about my status as an ex-expat.  ::)  ;)
