Do I need to fil 1040EZ with 2555EZ?
« on: February 03, 2011, 02:58:22 PM »
This is probably a simple question but I am confused and don't want to do more work than necessary. I have lived in the UK since 2009. No US income whatsoever. I am filling out form 2555EZ to declare my UK earnings. Do I also need to fill out the 1040EZ (which would have nothing but the UK income on it) or is the 2555EZ enough to suffice?

I'm pretty sure you need to file the 1040 EZ. The 2555 is meant to be attached to the 1040.

You always have to fill out some form of 1040, 2555EZ is just an accompanying form. I'm not sure you can actually use 1040EZ if you are excluding foreign income, but if you can, you HAVE to file as married filing jointly to be able to use 1040EZ if you're married.
