How do you mail your US taxes?
« on: April 07, 2011, 03:05:56 PM »
I've always just used regular Royal Mail airmail. Now I'm wondering if I should use International Signed For or Fedex to get the forms to the States just for a little added assurance. What method do you use?

I put mine in a normal envelope and used regular mail to Austin Texas in  Feb and I checked where is my refund and it is being deposited tomorrow so obviously they got it ;-)

That's what I have done as well.  Never had any problems.

Thanks, regular mail sounds like a good plan to maintain. I'd read someone saying they used fedex for added peace of mind, and it unsettled my mind a tad, lol.

There are some quite tedious legal aruments that a UK Post Office postmark is not adequate proof of posting by the deadline whereas an IRS approved service provided by FedEx, UPS etc would count.  No-one I know has ever been fined on these grounds, but do at least get proof of posting (free) from the Post Office!

Yea, I was thinking that. There's confidential info on the tax forms, too, but the bank account info seems especially touchy. Any special way you mail it with fedex? I mean, a particular service or thing to ask for? I never use fedex, not really up on the options.
