UKBA's link up to CIFAS was formally announced this morning. This has been in the cards for a long time. Ostensibly, the link up will prevent immigrants from being victims of identity theft.
What it means here at UKY is that UKBA will have formalized computer links to bank accounts, credit cards, telephone, and utility bills. Here and abroad, basically any company that participates in CIFAS.
Parliament still needs to approve this though. I don't think there's any chance of Parliament not approving it, so take this post as advance notice.
This will not affect entry clearance applications because they are already covered by the RAU programme. It will just affect in-country stuff.
