Parking at Heathrow? Long Term Lots?
« on: September 13, 2004, 09:13:19 AM »
We're flying back to the US for my brother's wedding late October, and we don't think we can get rides there and back so we need to park for a week.

Has anyone used any long term parking places that are good? Any recommendations?

we have parked at heathrow for 2 weeks. it was fine.

the last few times we used a valet service called purple parking (discount through amex and virgin) which meets you at the departures curb when you are leaving, takes your car and parks it. when you arrive back in the UK, they meet you at the same place. all prepaid and very well organized. it was a lifesaver with 2 small kids and luggage after a 9 hour flight.

3 quotes I've received so far. BAA, Park & Save, and Purple Parking. Purple Parking so far is the only one with the pick up service. All 3 have shuttle service, and Purple Parking is still the cheapest by £10.... onward ho...

Parkandgo.co.uk quotes several places for you at once. That's convenent!

And it looks like theres a thing called Heathrow Meet & Greet, the same thing as purple parking exactly, but for £30 cheaper total! Looks like that's what we'll be going with then!

We tend to use ACP - it's off airport (but not too far off); sensible compromise between a lot of money for the close in car parks just to the North of the North runway and some of the more distant folks like Secure Storage.  No long wait for transfer buses (call 'em an they're along in a few minutes) and the car's right by their office when you get back there on the bus.  Mind - I've never tried the "bring your car to the terminal" services, and we don't usually prebook which can save you pounds.

Do let us know how you get on with who you book with!

We're thinking of the meet & greet thing because we'll have our baby & at least 5 suitcases!!! We're bring a lot with us and leaving it there, rather than shipping it. So a few extra pounds to be sorted out by someone else seems worth it. i haven't booked them yet, I need to chat with David about it - - - but I'll definitely let you know what I choose, and how it went after all is said and done. :)

Just as an update - we're now planning on staying at a Heathrow hotel the night before our flight. Our flight leaves at 9am and there is no WAY we're waking up at 3 or 4 that morning!  :o Especially since we have a 6 hour drive as soon as we get off the plane, and more the next day! SO... we've gone to http://www.holidayextras.co.uk - and are looking for a hotel & parking deal. Leaning toward the place that used to be Le Meridien becaquse we've stayed there before. They do deals of 1 night sleep plus 15 nights parking, all for just slightly more than plain old parking - so it seems like a good deal.

that is a good deal!!!!

(just a note to say we use purple parking too).  And, i believe if you have a virgin travel card you get discounts on parking through them.

We did a package through the website i mentioned above and stayed at the St GIles hotel in feltham, 4 miles away from Heathrow. It was a really nice room, clean and pretty and spacious, and we got 3 weeks of parking with it - all for 120 pounds! the 3rd week of parking was extra, but all we had to do was call them and pay a few extra pounds.

we will definitely go to that hotel again the next time we fly. they had a shuttle that goes to the airports, but not the international terminal (most hotels didnt, theyd take you to terminal 1 2 or 3 and then you have to take another bus to terminal 4) - - so we took a cab. easy as can be - good hotel - great deal, would do it again!

We use Gatwick and do that w/ the Meridian hotel as well. They have great deals for 1 night's stay & long term parking. It's the way to do it ;)
