Working after FLR
« on: September 03, 2008, 11:15:23 AM »
I have not found yet what if any work restrictions are there after obtaining an FLR.  Can I get any kind of job or only specialty jobs that are hard to fill by the normal Brit? I have my own work to do from the US VIA the internet but am wondering if I will be able to get local work to supplement my income.  Will I be restricted from that?

once you have your FLR you can work in any job you like (other than certain civil servant jobs.) You can even set up your own business, if you wish :)
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

I have my own work to do from the US VIA the internet...

If you're here in the UK on a fiance visa, you want to be careful because I had posed the same question about working online and earning money from the US and I was told I was not allowed to work...PERIOD. Even if it was US money I was earning.

Just a heads up anyway.

Yes, I understand that.  I will be waiting for my FLR before working at all.  Just didn't know if I could do work in addition to what I will be doing from the states once I got it.
