You are not subject to the NHS fee. From the website,

Quote
For visa applications made outside the UK, you’ll have to pay if:

you’re a national of a country outside the European Economic Area

you’re applying for a visa to work, study or join your family in the UK for more than 6 months (but you’re not applying to permanently remain in the UK)

you’ve applied and paid your visa fee on or after 6 April 2015

You applied and paid before 6 April. If you received notification on 17 April, then you're fine. Are you worried about something in particular? It hasn't been that long since you applied.

Ah, I was not sure if they would count my online payment date or my package received date, which would definitely cause a delay (since I didn't pay the fee). That is a relief. I have not heard anything regarding a decision. I just received confirmation from Sheffield that my application "is being prepared for consideration." That was on 14 April.

Of course, I worry about everything, so this is just my nature.   ;D

Thank you.

It's the day you did your online application, (March 26th) So you're okay! I don't know the timeline of non-priority applicants, but priority has been seeing turnarounds of about a week or less. So maybe in a couple weeks you'll hear something. I wish you luck!

I went for my in person appointment on Tuesday the 14th and received my Biometric Card on Friday the 17th.  They normally say it takes 7-10 business days and I got it in 3.  I know it's not the visa application turn around time, but I hope this helps.

Thank you all!

Went for my FLR-M appointment in Croydon on Tuesday.  Sat there for 4 hours but was approved for my visa.  I would say the premium service is worth it.

That's the office we will have to use soon once we sort out the application form/get married. Any tips?

Sent out my first FLR(M) that arrived on Monday. The bank shows the money being taken out for the visa, however, I haven't gotten an e-mail saying they were even looking at it yet. Is this normal?

Yep, it's normal. They charge you for it before it get's to the worker who will process your application.

When I applied last summer I can't remember if they were doing emails or not, but they will be sending you out paperwork relatively shortly for you to go get your biometrics done. Make sure ALL the info on the paperwork is correct, they miskeyed my birth year. I was 108 years old for a week or so according to the UKVI. They will correct any mistakes, it just adds time. It took a week for me to get my new biometrics paperwork.

Timeline update:

I posted my FLR(m) application on 09 March and got my BRP and docs back today, 24 April, so 6.5 weeks isn't too bad of a wait.

Good luck everyone! :)

I didn't get an email either. They sent an acknowledgement letter by post letting me know they had received it, etc.

It was a little bit stressful until I found out just how easy it was to get it fixed. Then I laughed. My husband thought I look really good for my age...

I did my FLR(M) by post back at the end of February. Got the letter so we knew they had it and it came back in about 4 weeks. But now we are getting on to summer and I think there are a lot more applications going on then. Last year when I began the process, they were still awaiting the outcome of the court case about income and had the big back log of UK passports. Everything still went through quickly. And when I arrived at Heathrow, they only asked what I was coming for (to get married to my fiance) and if someone was waiting for me (I said he better be waiting for me on the other side of that wall) and they said good luck and that was it. Good luck to everyone going through the journey. Been there and know how you feel. :)
