IDV App Info - for Applications Reusing Biometrics

BRP card received in the post today in a brown envelope, just posted through the letterbox.

All details are correct on it.

Do I have to cut the old one and send it back in the post to them?

I'm going to send it next week now.

Great news! Yes, they said in the decision letter that we’d need to cut the old card in half and return it... here’s an excerpt:

If you previously held a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) you must now return it to the Home Office as it is no longer valid. You should cut the card in half and post it in a plain, windowless envelope. If you are returning the BRP from within the UK then please send it to: BRP Returns, P.O. Box 195, Bristol, BS20 1BT.

Unfortunately it’s now been 11 wd and we still haven’t received the BRP so I’m betting that despite the fact I informed them of our new address a month ago, they sent it to the old address. I’ve submitted the form online to report it hasn’t been received. It’ll take up to 20 wd for them to investigate and respond rather than the usual 5:

It is taking significantly longer than usual to resolve requests and it may take up to 20 working days to respond. We are working hard to reduce these waiting times.

If your BRP has been successfully delivered to the address you provided in your application we will not respond to your enquiry. If you have your TNT consignment reference you can track your package here: https://delivery.tnt.com/tracking, alternatively you can call TNT on 0345 608 0630. If you have changed address since making your application and did not inform us you will need to make contact with your previous address to obtain your BRP, or you will need to report it lost and apply for a replacement BRP here: https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/not-arrived.

Apparently they’ve changed courriers from DX to TNT/FedEx. I never received a consignment reference or tracking info but this kinda makes it sound like I should have received one? Hopefully this’ll all just work itself out in January.

Nice one!!  We had a courier asking me to accept the letter (and then he entered something on his machine). We still haven't gotten any formal email.

I read through the letter with the card and saw nothing about sending back the old card.

Just to report back so that people have a sense of timelines with the app. I applied September 15th, sent my biometrics in on the 8th of October via the IDV app, and just got my approval email today, the 30th of December. My previous BRP expired 12/12/20, so I didn't have to go too long with an expired BRP. I feel like they are starting to catch up? Good luck to everyone who is still waiting and thank you again to all the helpful souls on this board!

So I’ve just had to make a call to see if my application can be escalated. My aunt who is like a mother passed away yesterday 30th of Dec 1pm NYC time and my family will wait as long as they can for a service. I applied July 28th and did my IDV app submittal in September for my ILR- set M. I really hope this actually does something and it’s not a vanity gesture. I think I’ve been patient enough by just checking my email once or twice daily. I just hope I get some result.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please contact your MP as well. They will do what they can on compassionate grounds.

 app invite 22nd of sept and the 5th of October submitted..
hopefully all of you receive your letters soon ! Best of luck as I’m sure they will be rolling in now that the holidays have come and gone !

I applied July 28th and uploaded documents Sept 17th to IDV app.

I applied 25/9 and did biometrics in person on 7/10 so starting to get a bit antsy but it’s encouraging to see things moving along!

Mine is from March 27th (biometrics submitted august 26) my MP has gotten involved (with no luck yet) but I’m just curious to see if anyone else is in the same boat?

I’m honestly dumbfounded at this point that I don’t have a decision.

There always seems to be one application that falls down the side of the desk takes longer than everyone elses. I'm very sorry it's you.
It definitely doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with your application, it's them, not you.
Keep pushing your MP, make a real nuisance of yourself so that it's easier for them to help you properly than ignore you and it wouldn't hurt to try the call line again.
