And don't forget that one year after moving over here you do need to get a UK drivers licence...from what I understand in terms of your insurance, they really don't care about the fact that you're a good driver in the States...you are a NEW driver here in their eyes and it's frickin expensive.  I'm not looking forward to having to pay it someday.

That wasn't the case for me. My insurance actually went down when we put it in my name instead of my husbands after I got my UK drivers license because I'm a woman.  I had my 5 years no claims letters and they were happy with how long I have held any license not this license. My fully comprehensive insurance is only £230 a year.

Good to hear from you again.

Wow thats amazing...£230 per annum .
I guess i will have to shop around for insurance and see what happens.

To be honest i was quite scared off thinking the insurance cost will be " out of reach " .

Who are you insured with ?
