Packing "adult" toys?
« on: September 21, 2004, 04:46:33 AM »
Ok, this may seem like an odd question....but does anyone have any experience with packing so-called "adult" toys on an international flight?  I've gotten rid of most of mine, but I have a certain battery-operated friend that I'm quite attached to.  I packed it in my suitcase last week when I flew to New York, with the batteries removed, wrapped in a scarf.  When I got my bag, there was one of those "this bag has been searched" cards in it.  Now, I don't mind if the airline people know I'm a big perv, but could something like this (a vibrator) cause a problem when flying overseas?  I guess I could just dump it and get a new one in the UK, but I'm quite low on funds, and I hate to think of think of those long winter nights with no entertainment.  (Well, I guess I could just find a guy, but honestly, dating is such work...  ;) )

I can't imagine that it would be a problem, people have brought stranger things in suitcases. Like you said, just take the batteries out and you'll be fine. They certainly aren't going to stop you at customs for it!  :o  :D
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I've never had a problem.  Flown all sorts of "naughty" things (but none of them actually illegal, I hasten to say) from the US to UK and from the UK to various places in Europe.  Never raised an eyebrow.  However!  To avoid potential embarrassment, I always put such items in my checked baggage.

Recently, I have always had my checked luggage inspected. The most embarrassing thing I had though was a few tampons. lol
I used to work for the airlines and the security people have seen it all, trust me. Besides think of it this way. They may SEE your little friends packed in your suitcase but they dont know whose suitcase it is. Youre a name,  not a face.
When leaving from Chicago O'hare, you have to stack your suitcase up after you check in. Each bag is opened and checked but you dont have to stand around for that. Last time I flew back from chicago I had a huge Samsonite packed with American peanut butter, Rice a Roni and other foody things.
If your worried...chuck out your friends and get shiny new ones here!  ;)

What a great question!  ;)

One of my girlfriends went to Jamaica with her husband. Before they left for the aiport, she stuck a 'toy' in her husbands carry-on, knowing full-well it would get rifled thru before they boarded. Sure enough, his bag got rifled thru and out came the 'toy.' The people were in hysterics. He took the joke as they are always doing this sort of 'one up' jokes on each other. Brilliant.

It's perfectly safe to put them in checked luggage.

I refuse to explain how I know this.

I also packed my fav vib in the checked luggage and not a problem at all and it is not like they see your face usually when it if it gets searched. And if you are there when it does just smile, knowing good and well that they have the same things at home.

Well Ive been told (honestly) that I could quite easily carry my Samurai swords in my checked luggage on international flights without trouble, so I think a your battery operated friend wont raise too many eyebrows lol.

Speaking of batteries, http://www.7dayshop.com has quite good deals on our energetic little friends. Please note that I am not affiliated with either 7days or the pleasure industry.
