Should I explain anything specific here like how we met or something like that?

A brief paragraph about your relationship should be included in your sponsor letter.

Okay, who writes the sponsor letter? or who do you recommend to write it?

It's a letter from your sponsor, so they must write it.  :)

It should contain the following information.

How they qualify to sponsor you (British Citizen)
How you are meeting the financial  requirement.
Information regarding where you will be living in the UK, so how you will be meeting the accommodation requirement.
A brief history of your relationship and why you are choosing to settle in the UK.

Your sponsor writes the sponsor letter... as it is their confirmation of support for the application.

It should include:

Paragraph 1: how they are eligible to be a sponsor (their UK citizenship)
Paragraph 2: their employment details and how they are meeting the financial requirement, including which category they meet
Paragraph 3: where you will live together in the UK, including property address, how many bedrooms, whether it is rented, owned by them, or owned by family/friends who are letting you stay there
Paragraph 4: a short, factual history of your relationship (no personal feelings) - so, where and when you met, where and when you entered into a relationship, where and when you got engaged, where and when you got married, how often you see each other, how you communicate while apart, and why you are choosing to settle in the UK and not the US

No, it is under the 'Settlement Visa' category, which includes spouses, fiances, same-sex and unmarried partners, children, adult dependant children and elderly dependant relatives.

See: https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa

Tier 2 (General) visas are company-sponsored work visas... for if you are being hired by a UK company and they are sponsoring you for a work visa.

Okay sounds good!

I just got my passport with my new name (YAY!) which means we can hopefully apply by the end of next week!! We have the paper application completed and now have to start the online one.

For the letters like the sponsor letter and letter from landlord, do you know who they need to be addressed to? or if they need to be addressed to anyone?

Thanks!
Carly

I'm filling out the online application now!

for the family details, employment and medial treatment. Is this for me or for my husband?

Do I only put details about my husband in the "sponsor" section?

Thanks!

The online form is a little confusing, as it appears they are asking for sponsor’s details, but they aren’t. Most of the sponsor’s details go in the Appendix 2 form, so the online form is mainly about  you.

So:
- where it asks for parents’ details, it’s YOUR parents’ details, not your sponsor’s (so they can make sure you are not already entitled to U.K. citizenship through your parents)
- where it asks for employment details, they mean YOUR US employment (as the form is generic and is pretty much the same for all visa types)
- where it asks about NHS treatment, it is asking if YOU have had any NHS treatment while in the U.K. in the past and whether you paid for it or not (because if you have more than £500 in unpaid NHS debt, it’ll be a visa refusal).

Okay great!

Do I need to write a lot in the English Language section?

Do I need to say more than this: I can read, write, speak the English language fluently ?

Not sure as I can’t see the online form, but if you are a US citizen, then you are exempt from meeting the English Language requirement anyway.

So I think you just put something like:
“I am exempt from English Language Requirement due to being a national of a majority English speaking country”

I'm filling out the online application now!

Just a reminder not to submit it until you are completely ready with every piece of your supporting documentation ready to go.

Yes, I will do that. We are piecing together all of the documents now! I will post on here all of the documents that we have. Our goal is to have everything done by the end of this week. I know it will take time and we need to make sure everything is correct and done properly.

So for my employment, I have two temporary jobs one as a temp receptionist and a waitress just to by my time before I go over there. Do I need to add my bank statements for those positions? Do I need to be very accurate with this?

If you are the US applicant, you do not need to send any pays stubs or bank statements as they cannot be considered.
