Fun fact:

One of the 4 year old's most epic meltdowns of all time was over cauliflower.  We had bought one of those multi-packs of vegetables so there were only a few pieces of cauliflower.  She was gutted that we had eaten it all and there wasn't any more for her.  We now buy cauliflower in much larger quantities.  Though we were hysterical laughing as she was crying and tear-stained wailing, "I want more cauliflower, why can't I have more cauliflower?"  LOL!

We made cauliflower steaks the other day. Marinated in olive oil, salt, fresh herbs, garlic and lemon juice.  Cooked on the grill. Yummy!!!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I'm going to start now, convincing myself that that sounds delicious, so when I do actually eat it, I'll be psyched into liking it.  I think this can work.  :)

Actually, I have to admit a lot of the things I thought I didn't like growing up turn out to be quite good when you cook them well!  My parents really are/were terrible cooks.  I didn't realize how badly they ruined food for me 'til I had 'my own kitchen' (shared with my husband, and currently not really a proper kitchen) and my husband challenged me to re-visit the things I already discounted.

We're going to try cauliflower "steaks", I think.  Marinated, or something.  We can't roast them 'til we have an oven (unless we do it in the pizza oven, but that's a lot of work, so we'd want to be roasting something else, too, to make it worth maintaining the oven temp for an extended period of time).

I like cabbage, broccoli, and sprouts, but not cauliflower. And I do understand the ridiculousness of it. I can't even put my finger on what it is I don't like, unless it's insufficient flavour?  I don't know.  It's just bleh.

On it's own, it really is flavourless... though it has an odd bitterness to it too. My mom used to cook it in milk when we were kids? It's kind of like a not quite cooked potato! haha. But add some flavour to it, and roast it and you get this awesome sweet nuttiness to it and whatever things you add to it to give it some flavour. :)

On the grill would be good too, you get some of the same flavours on the grill.

There are some great recipes for 'buffalo chicken' cauliflower bites. I've been wanting to try them for ages, but haven't had the time they need as they are a bit labor intensive.

When I was a kid, if my older sister and I walked into the kitchen while my dad was peeling/chopping potatoes, we would beg him for a piece of raw potato.  I don't know why.  And we were always so happy when he'd relent and give us each a small slice.  It wasn't good, but I always ate it and was glad to have it.  I'll never understand that, but it's a thing we did.

Anyway, yeah... cauliflower... flavourless.   So I'm not mistaken in that.  That's fine.  I can work with flavourless.  I'm happy to marinate and season it into submission.  I will learn to like cauliflower.  If I can like cooked carrots, I can like cauliflower!

I know what you mean about the flavour being lacking. I'm not much of a cook so I've been known to put ketchup on cauliflower to give it a bit more taste! It works better than you might think!  ;D

I still heavily vote cheese. Cauliflower on it's own doesn't really have a taste so really it's just cheesy amazing goodness.

I eat cauliflower without cheese.  I must be missing a trick.  I like it.  I don’t find it bland.  But a lot of my veggies enjoy going for a swim in ranch dressing before jumping on my fork.   ;D

If I have a choice, I only eat ‘cauliflower cheese’ - cooked cauliflower covered in cheese sauce, cheese sprinkled on top and browned under the grill.
