Correspondence Q

Sorry to ask this old chestnut but despite filling a drawer with all of our correspondence my wife and I are "a bit light" on what we need for her ILR(M) application!

We have:

Dec 19 - 2 letters, one to each of us
Jun 20 & July 20 - One letter to each of us for those consecutive months
Sept 20 & Nov 20 - One letter to each of us (not even consecutive I know...)
Dec 21 - 2 letters, one to each of us
Mar 22 - Council tax bill in both our names

And then a range of correspondence that doesn't match up in dates. About 2/3 of it's mine. There was just so little post during certain points of 2020 for obvious reasons.

Reading the wording of the application I notice it doesn't seem to specify both sources being within the same month, only the same address. Considering our situation should we focus on sending them 12 separate pieces, 6 from each of us? And would they accept that? I'm not sure what else we can do.

Presumably you don't have bank statements coming in every month? That's what we recommend doing because that way you can use a couple of other good pieces of mail then fill in the gaps with the statements.

For ILR the spacing works out at every 5 months over 2.5 years. You need 3 different sources and you have the option of 12 individual, 6 joint or a combination of both.

Although it may not specify the same month for the individual items, because the 2 single items are a substitute for one joint item, this presumes they will be in the same month.

Don't worry though, if you can't meet the exact requirements you can write a letter with your explanation as to why not.

Thanks very much Larabee - is there a standard wording for that letter?

No statements, no - and I do remember that advice - argh etc. We even have HMRC correspondence coming to my wife that we noticed is in her previous married name but mis-spelled! You couldn't make it up.

Would they accept an original stimulus check do you think?? I'd have to point out where the date is, it's somewhat buried on there.
