Correspondence/cohabitation evidence question
« on: July 02, 2022, 06:43:40 PM »
Hello - a few questions on the correspondence/cohabitation requirement for spouse visa extension if anyone has advice:

1. Can we include correspondence, such as dated/addressed energy statements or council tax bills, that are downloaded rather than mailed? These look exactly the same as mailed statements, include both our names and full address, but were not sent in the mail. We are struggling to find correspondence for several months as the majority of our statements/bills are online.

2. A 'tenancy agreement' is listed as an option for correspondence. We have tenancy agreements, which obviously have our names and the dates they were issued. However, these were not mailed to us. How do they count towards the correspondence requirement? Or do they count by virtue of demonstrating shared residence without having been mailed?

Thanks very much!

1- No. They must be originals and mailed to you through the post.
We tell everyone that as soon as they get here, they should turn off paperless and make sure they have something ( a bank statement is the easy option) coming in every month. That way you're never going to be missing a month at the end.

2- The instructions do say that the tenancy agreement is acceptable. I think your supposition is probably correct.

Set out here what you do have, you might be able to move the spacing up or down a month or two to minimise any gaps. And if worst comes to worst, you just need to write a letter to explain why you don't have enough mail.

Thanks so much for your response that is helpful for the future regarding paper statements. I think we have managed to find enough correspondence to meet the requirement and will also add the tenancy agreements for additional reference.

Thanks again.
