ILR document check
« on: July 03, 2022, 11:33:51 PM »
Hello!

Just wanted to check I’ve got all the right documents before submitting my ILR application, and then I have a few questions about the evidence - many many thanks in advance for any guidance! :)

Documents

Scans of every page of my US passport
Scan of each side of my current BRP
Scans of every page of my husband’s (sponsor’s) UK passport

Financial evidence - category B, my salaried employment
12 months’ bank statements: July 2021, August 2021, September 2021, October 2021, November 2021, December 2021, January 2022, February 2022, March 2022, April 2022, May 2022, June 2022
12 months’ payslips: September 2021, October 2021, November 2021, December 2021, January 2022, February 2022, March 2022, April 2022, May 2022
Letters from current and previous employers confirming payslip authenticity, dates of employment, salary and lengths of time on salary, and type of employment
Contract from current job

Cohabitation
Tenancy agreement
Council tax bill
Documents
Jan 2020 - EDF energy statement (issued online, pdf)
May 2020 - Barclays joint account statement
Oct 2020 - Barclays joint account statement
Mar 2021 - council tax (in my name); Barclays joint account statement
Aug 2021 - HSBC joint account statement
Jan 2022 - HSBC joint account statement
Jun 2022 - Barclays joint account statement

Marriage Certificate

Life in the UK test pass number

And a few questions...

1. Do I need scans of every page of my previous passport as well? Do I need scans of my husband’s previous passports too?
2. For the financial requirement, I took a couple of months off from June to August 2021, then started a new job in August 2021, then received my first paycheque from that job in September 2021 - should I note this somewhere in the application?
3. Also for the financial requirement, I started a new job in May and get paid on the last day of the month, so I’ll only have one payslip from the new job. I have a June payslip but it won’t appear on a statement until I get the one for July - should I still include it or just go up to May? Am I overthinking this?
4. I haven’t received a P60 - is there any other way I can get this or will I be ok without it?
5. For the cohabitation documents, is it ok that we’re using joint bank statements for so many of them? We re-ordered copies of edf energy statements from our previous address at the beginning of June but still haven’t received them.

Thank you!!

1- You only need your previous passport if you entered the UK on it. If you entered on the current one, then you don't need the previous one.

2-I think that's worth explaining.,

3-The most recent bank statement and pay slip must be dated within the 28 days before the date of the online application. So you must include your June pay slip. You can go to the bank and get a partial statement printed there, to cover the June pay entry.

4-It's not mandatory.

5-You only need three different sources, they can be all bank statements plus one council tax and an electric bill and that's perfectly fine. What is not fine though is using copies for the time they were originally issued. They would only be acceptable for the date you received them. Everything counts for the time it arrived to you in the post.

Amazing! Thanks so much for your quick responses :)

1. I did enter the UK on the previous passport, so I'll include it
2. Ok cool - is it possible to combine category b with savings so there aren't any months missing? It wouldn't be possible to use only savings and my salary is well above the threshold, but would combining the two be better?
3. Sounds good
4. Awesome!
5. Sounds good - they were originally issued as PDFs

If your savings qualify, use savings alone, it's SO much easier.

For ILR it's £18,600 + £16,000 = £34,600

Must be instantly accessible and can not have not dropped below 34.6k for the full 6 months. Can only be in your name, your partners name, or both.

ETA Oh, sorry you said it wouldn't be possible to use only savings. You can combine but still must meet the requirements of having the most recent pay slip being within 28 days of the date of the online application. So if you don't have the full amount in savings, just go with cat B.

Yeah that makes sense, will just go with Cat B then - just one last question, should I include 12 months of statements plus the partial statement covering the last paycheque deposit, or should it be the partial statement then the last 11 months' statements?

Twelve months plus the partial statement.

Hi, sorry, just got one last question - where should I note that there are only 10 months of payslips and what should I say? Would something like this be ok?

Please find included my last 12 months of payslips to meet the financial requirement under Category B. Though these cover the last 12 months, there are only 10 payslips - I left a position in June of 2021, was off for the month of July,  then commenced my next role in August 2021 but did not receive my first payslip from that role until September 2021.

Let me know! Thank you :)

Hi, just had a last question - should I include a covering letter explaining why I have 10 payslips to cover the last 12 months? Or is there another place on the application where it would make more sense to mention this?

Thank you in advance!

You can mention it in a cover letter - just say that you were not employed for the entire 12 months and so only have 10 months of payslips to provide.

It’s normal for people applying under Category B to have gaps in their payslips due to changing jobs or being unemployed for part of the year… it’s not an issue as long as the total earnings over the 12 months are at least £18,600 before tax.
