VFS global questions and confusion
« on: July 15, 2022, 12:55:17 PM »
I submitted my application (my immigration lawyer helped me, so I didn't see the page because it messed up on my browser so they did the rest of the VFS selections) and I'm confused on some parts. First, my lawyer told me that I'll be able to pick up my passport from the USCIS center since I didn't select return to my address. I don't understand this, because all the pages say you send it to the NY processing center with a return label and they send it back to your address. I didn't see the page or website so I have no idea what is happening on that front. All I know is my lawyer told me live while she was finishing my application that there was some pick up option. My VFS dashboard has no print shipping label. You have to pay to get any label. Roundtrip courier is 75 dollars and a return label is 45 dollars. I haven't seen anywhere on the website this pick up option for UK visas only for other countries.

The next question is do we have to upload every page of our passport on VFS self-scan and every page of our sponsor's passport? I know it says to submit my passport and sponsor's passport but I thought it was just my physical passport and my sponsor's bio photo page. Please help me someone. This is very frustrating and confusing. thanks.

By the way if I do have to mail it in, I send in my passport. They also said to submit this: "If you have uploaded your documents online, you need to mail your passport, self upload receipt, and return UPS shipping label to the UKVI Visa Processing Hub after you’ve attended your USCIS Application Support Center appointment." What is the self upload receipt? The one that's on the appointment confirmation for biometrics page? thanks

I'm afraid I'm thoroughly confused as well.

If your had a lawyer submit your application, I would expect they would have handled all of this for you?  And that your passport will be returned to their office and you will collect it from them.

You should not still physically be holding your passport unless you paid an extra £1,200 or so for the privilege.  You definitely need to send your passport to NY if you did not pay for the Gold Settlement Service.  For the Gold service, you would have attended your biometrics appointment in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, LA, Miami, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington DC.

Good to know. I chose USCIS application center. I talked to another individual and they received a paper during their biometric appointment (at USCIS center) that showed them what they had to do and they had to send their passport, application form, stamped biometric receipt and a return label too to the location in NY so I hope I get the same paper too.

Yes that is correct.  If you are still in possession of your passport and have not attended biometrics at a USCIS centre, then you will received a stamped copy of your biometrics and will mail your passport to NYC.  You will need to purchase return shipping for everything though.

This page should help you.
